Our Story

The story of Al-Rahmah Tourist Camp is similar to the famous Arabic story of One Thousand and One Nights. It is a story that never ends, and the more you hear it, the more you want to hear it. This dream comes true at Al-Rahmah Tourist Camp.

The book of One Thousand and One Nights is a collection of stories from the Middle East that tell the culture and art of the Middle Ages in the context of short and interesting stories. The same is the case for Al-Rahmah Tourist Camp with its founder and implementer, Mr Ali Al-Hajri, who believed in the magic of the East and its nights as described in the book of One Thousand and One Nights.

The stories tell of the Persian King Shahryar, who married a new woman every night and then killed her the next day. The stories tell of what happened with one of his beautiful wives, Scheherazade, who became queen. Knowing her inevitable fate, she kept telling King Shahryar a long, never-ending story. It was an interesting story that the king followed until dawn, and she would leave him, promising to resume the story in the evening. This scene continued for days, months, and years until she bore him three sons and the king was convinced of her loyalty and abolished his decree.

By visiting this camp, you will enjoy the stories of Scheherazade and stay a day at the camp day after day, where you will see something new every day and will remember the stories of One Thousand and One Nights.

This renewed narration of the stories of One Thousand and One Nights will roam the changing-colored sand dunes with the spirit of magical beauty and desert life. This scene represents the challenges that Mr Ali faced during the construction of this camp.

Once, Mr Ali saw someone camping in the desert and was amazed that this Bedouin lived in this isolation. He was truly a discoverer and tried to experience this situation for himself in the desert. From here, he was attracted by the magic of the desert.

Tourism has become a well-known saying. Mr Ali had the story of the first to establish a tourist camp in the desert in the Sultanate of Oman. Two huts were built with a toilet and a fence in 1997 at a cost of about five hundred Omani rials, paid jointly by Mr Ali and his brother. The first family to stay at the camp was a family with their friends in 1998.

Mr Ali had no idea or experience about tourism, and his purpose was only to share this beautiful site with others.

The situation continued to run routinely. Mr Ali went to Muscat to distribute some of the colorful posters to the tourist agencies. The distribution process continued until 4 pm, and he returned to his site around 10 pm. The tourist agencies doubted the seriousness of Ali’s camp, and his family also began to complain about his plan, which they described as madness.

But Ali was confident and believed in what he was doing. Suddenly, something magical happened, and Ali received bookings for 175 tourists to stay at his desert camp. A total of 60 luxury tents were published, and Ali remembered his belonging to his homeland and to his people in the desert.

The preparation for this group required experience and knowledge. Al-Fadl Ali was able to expand the tourist camp to include 8 umbrellas and 4 tents, bringing the total to 77 rooms and 15 luxury tents. However, despite this, Mr Ali still remembered his humble origin and his continuous connection to the land. Mr Ali and the camp continued to provide all assistance to the local Bedouin tribes. He organized trips for tourists to visit his good people in their locations so that the tourist could see the magic of natural beauty and the simplicity of life, and to help to promote local crafts and heritage. A space was opened for Bedouin women to visit the camp on weekends to display local goods and products for sale to tourists at the camp.

Al-Rahmah Tourist Camp is a unique and innovative project that has helped to promote tourism in the Sultanate of Oman. It is a testament to the vision and determination of Mr Ali, who has created a truly magical experience for visitors from all over the world.
